Word of the Day: Mompelen

A verb meaning “to mumble“.

I’ll admit to not being the most chill of human beings, as much as my friends would beg to differ. Mompelen or mumbling is one of my biggest pet peeves. If a person is going to speak they should at the very least speak clearly.

Maybe a rant isn’t what the word of the day should be tied to, but it’s what the app I use for random Dutch words had chosen for today. Interesting choice, but I’m going with it. I’m not going mompelen on this word at least?

To mumble implies that you’re not confident in what you’re saying, or that you don’t particularly want your audience to catch the full meaning of the words. Which in my opinion is the opposite of either written or spoken word.

Okay, rant over.
